Frequently Asked Questions

Curious About Coaching? Here’s What Families Often Ask.

Do you diagnose?

No. I don’t diagnose or assess.
My support focuses on emotional wellbeing, confidence, sensory needs, and helping children feel safe, understood, and connected.

If you’re exploring diagnosis, I can help you understand the process and support you along the way.

Can I stay with my child during sessions?

Yes — if your child wants you there.
Some children feel safer with a parent in the room, others prefer a little space.
We follow their lead.

What ages do you support?

I work with children and teens from around age 6 up to 18.
Younger children are welcome if they’re able to engage with gentle, creative support.

What happens in a session?

Sessions are calm, creative, and child‑led.
We might use:

• drawing
• journaling
• sensory tools
• visual supports
• gentle conversation

The goal is always to help your child feel safe, understood, and regulated.

What if my child doesn’t talk?

That’s completely okay.
Many children communicate through play, drawing, movement, or simply being in the space.
There is no pressure to talk — I meet them exactly where they are.

Do you work with neurodivergent children?

Yes — absolutely.
My practice is fully neuroaffirming, sensory‑aware, and inclusive.
I welcome autistic, ADHD, PDA, dyslexic, dyspraxic, and otherwise neurodivergent young people.

How long is a session?

Sessions are usually 60 minutes, but I adapt the pace to your child’s needs.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes.
Online support works well for many children and teens, especially those who feel safer in their own space.

How many sessions will my child need?

Every child is different.
Some families come for a short block, others prefer longer‑term support.
We review together and follow what feels right.

What is “Coorie In Your Pocket”?

It’s a gentle follow‑on option after a block of support — a monthly check‑in and message support to help maintain progress and offer reassurance between sessions.

It’s not a standalone service.

Do you offer support for parents too?

Yes.
Family Support sessions give you space to talk things through, understand what’s going on, and find strategies that fit your child.

You can also book a session just for you.

What if my child is anxious about coming?

That’s completely normal.
We go slowly, keep things predictable, and create a cosy, sensory‑safe environment.
Your child sets the pace.

Where are you based?

I’m in West Fife, with a calm, cosy space designed to feel safe and grounding.
You’ll receive directions and parking info when you book.

I can also work with you in your own home.

How do I get started?

We begin with a gentle, no‑pressure chat on a videocall.
You share what’s going on.
I listen.
Together, we find the right next step.
